HGV Driver/Trainee Camera Operator – South West London Do you have a keen interest in horse racing? This could be the perfect opportunity for you! This is a unique opportunity for an experienced HGV driver who has a passion for horse racing based in South West London. As an experienced HGV driver, you will be driving the vehicles to and from the racecourses and you will also be trained to operate race coverage cameras, as well as rigging operation and de-rigging of cameras. There are opportunities for you to learn new skills including photo finish, public address, and presentation cameras. Spring/Summer working hours between 45-50 hrs per week over the week and any 5 days out of 7. Autumn/Winter shorter hours around 35hrs per week again any 5 days out of 7. As a HGV Driver/Trainee Camera Operator your roles & responsibilities would be: Interest in live-sports broadcast, an interest in horse-racing is a big plus. Willing to learn how to operate broadcast cameras, the job is a mix of driving HGVs to/from location and operating camera equipment on site. You should be fully HGV qualified with a good understanding of driver regulations. Physically fit, you must be comfortable working at heights, in isolation and exposed to the elements, with good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and be part of a team. You must have a keen interest in or knowledge of horse racing and any exposure to live sports broadcasting is desirable as is any experience with cameras, lenses or photography. A willingness to learn and develop is key. You must also be prepared to travel and to work evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays. As an experienced HGV driver and horse racing enthusiast, you will have primary responsibility for the safe driving of our clients Outside Broadcast (OB) vehicles to and from racecourses. Additionally, you will be trained to operate race coverage cameras and in our OB operations including the safe rigging, operation and de-rigging of cameras along with hoist vehicles and other OB equipment. The role will also include a variety of general OB tasks to ensure the smooth operation and delivery of all technical services to our racecourses and broadcast partners. Candidates with the right approach can also learn other skills e.g. photo finish, public address and presentation cameras.
