24-7 Recruitment Services acting as an Employment Business are currently recruiting for Transport Controller on behalf of our client, based in Newcastle Under Lyme. *Previous experience in Transport and Logistics is required* We are looking for someone that can work in a fast paced environment, the ability to multi task is a must! You will be working for one of the biggest employers in the area. Controllers are front and centre of the transport operation demonstrating 21st century driver engagement and management. In addition to being a duty manager the controller is a dotted line manager ensuring the wellbeing, performance and motivation of the driver team through regular performance dialogues, scheduled 1-2-1’s as well as ad-hoc communication and engagement. Transport Controller Main Responsibilities: Coordinate and provide support and information in the running of safe and efficient operation. Working within clear guidelines to help achieve the operational standards and defined outcomes during your shift. Safe, legal and efficient execution of transport operations during a duty shift to network SLA’s/KPI’s. Collate all feedback against plan in the daily operations log for use in plan/do/review calls. Review and amend where appropriate daily plans. Daily operations issue management and resolution for transport and with local warehouse. Management of short term driver absence and relocation of work. Responsible for full and effective daily brief/debrief for DHL, agency and sub-contractor drivers. Responsible for driver and fleet legal compliance during shift in accordance with DHL Asset Management Centre of Excellence standards. Ensuring and sampling pre-shift checks (yard checks) and the defect process. Ensuring fleet management (OPS) processes are adhered to. Accident and breakdown management via DHL standard operating procedures. Point of contact for all drivers during your drivers duty shift. Interrogation, allocation and assignment of work via TMS, ensuring system compliance. Manage Driver performance to identify any major discrepanies in accordance with the Daily Transport Plan. Where a subcontractor is starting and finishing at site, it is the responsibility of Transport controller and/or operators to brief/debrief the subcontractor. Support of transport and network project and initiatives. Transport Controller Desirable skills : Strong administrative skills PC literate Team player Must be comfortable with working in a busy fast paced environment and good with dealing with drivers as the 1st point of contact. H&S knowledge and responsibilities Proactive and dynamic Supervisory skills – managing individual performance/absenteeism/conflict and development Commercial Awareness (impact of KPI’s) Good numerical skills (Essential) Shift Pattern: 1st week 06:00 – 14:00 2nd week 14:00 – 22:00 Pay rates: Basic 40h per week, breaks paid.
